Drezen was an unruly and violent world since creatures gained consciousness. To survive you had to only care for yourself; to live with any desire other than pure selfishness was almost a sure suicide. Food was scarce as a person only grew enough for themselves- any system of money and/or bartering was only used if you could not gather what you needed through other means and only if you could happen upon it. That is, until the Angels established the 1st Empire and declared their rule throughout all of Drezen with the Icerin Concordant. They ruled it for several thousand years, untroubled but for the Eris War. After that, Cabriel became detached from the world and anarchy reined for some hundred years, until a new political figure came onto the scene.
It did not happen over night, but over a course of several years, that a particular Camurael, named Coriant Arieki, took control of Drezen's central city. He had an army, although very few aware of exactly how he had managed to rally such a force. Arieki managed to implement several working systems in the government. A world-wide currency was set, technology began to advance. Arieki was rarely made public appearances during his rules, making him somewhat of a enigmatic savior.
During Arieki's rule, the Capital flourished, and the so-called "Age of Tech" began. The humans were at the center of it, and although there were a few contributers from other species, it was the inventions of the humans which were the most influencial. They developed scientific fields in order to extend their own lives and ensure that it would be spent in comfort, followed by weapons to protect themselves.
Then, of course, everything went to hell.
Slightly under two centuries ago, a rebellion destroyed everything. No, to be more accurate, a single woman did. She was of the Folk, a powerful magic user and technological genius. She had no need of an army the size of Arieki's; only one made up of twenty-five people, who were all strong-magic users and intelligent. They went by the title of Kautensa.
Unlike the previous reform, this took place over several nights. The Capital was stormed and it was either be slaughtered or flee for those who were actively siding with Arieki. The main buildings were destroyed and any sign of Arieki's army was investigated and erased. Few innocents were harmed, but they were threatened with death if they dared to revolt. The final death toll was said to be of 2000 creatures; Arieki himself was said to be killed. The Kautensa established themselves as the government, to the protest of the Humans and concern of the other species.
It was very quickly that things started to take a turn for the worse. Without Arieki's diplomatic skills and connections, the relations between species worsened. Skirmishes began to break out, especially between the Camurael and the Humans. The remainders of Arieki's forces actively attacked the Capital and a small war period broke out between them; the majority of technology was destroyed, all electricity and solar sources destroyed. The Kautensa eventually crushed them, but they were - and have been - unable to restore all technology and previous relations. The other nations do not suffer as much as Erihall, as they did not have such technology available to begin with, but they still feel the effects of the rebellion.
